Victorian Bird Dog Bookends

Height (male): 4"
Width: 8"
Depth: 4 1/2"

Description:
A one-of-a-kind pair of bookends from the turn of the century. The dogs may have been Victorian mantel pieces made into bookends in the 1920s. The dogs themselves were cast in one piece with the pase and the book support was then welded on. The male setter holds a pheasant in his mouth while the female is pointing. The expressions are soulfully realistic. Gilded with the eyes painted.
